Voir un Ami Pleurer
For the first time in Theatre du Reve’s history we have commissioned a play from a Belgian playwright Olivier Coyette to be directed by Parisian director Valery Warnotte.
We are thrilled be working so closely with these fine artists from inception to production. Last year we held a preliminary workshop to begin a dialogue about the ever dynamic relationship between Americans and Europeans (particularly Belgian and French). Olivier Coyette completed the first third of the play under the working title Voir un Ami Pleurer (named after a Jaques Brel song). Both Coyette and Warnotte will be back in Atlanta to workshop the piece some more: to continue writing and to continue working with us. At the end of our 2 weeks together we will do a staged reading of excerpts from Voir un Ami Pleurer in in French and in English on September 7. Come meet the artists at the reading performed by Carolyn Cook, Chris Kayser, Joe Knezevich and Park Krausen.
To read meditations on the piece from artistic director Park Krausen, playwright Olivier Coyette and director Valery Warnotte…please read on.
