Théâtre du Rêve Atlanta's Unique French-Language Theater

Teachers, welcome to another exciting season of French theatre! We have a strong commitment to education, with workshops on using drama in the foreign-language classroom and special programming for students at the High Museum. In addition, our mainstage production is a golden opportunity for your students to experience French as a living language!

This season, Théâtre du Rêve presents two plays by Olivier Coyette: Voir un Ami Pleurer and L’Evanouie, in repertory at the 14th Street Playhouse in January, 2008.

Voir un Ami Pleurer is about the dynamic relationship between Americans and Europeans. It is a piece that is accessible to many, and very funny, but it may not be suitable for all audiences. Performances will be in both French and in English with super-titles in both languages.

L’Evanouie reveals the life and character of an unseen woman through brief recollections of “what she says.” Eccentric, mysterious, and compelling, the play is a beautiful exploration of language. L'Evanouie will be performed primarily in French with no subtitles.

Student Matinee Dates:

L'Evanouie:
Thursday, January 17 and Friday, January 18 at 10 a.m.

Voir un Ami Pleurer:
Tuesday, January 22 at 10 a.m.

Location: We are moving to a new location, the 14th St. Playhouse, at the corner of 14th and Juniper in midtown Atlanta! This is a larger theatre, so we can accommodate groups of up to 150. It’s located near Colony Square, the Woodruff Arts Center, the High Museum and Piedmont Park – great destinations for after-show outings.

Price: Tickets for these special matinees are still only $10.00 (ten dollars) per person for teachers and students.

Reservations: To reserve tickets for student matinees, contact Education Director at Carolyn Cook. Please include your name, the name of your school, the number in your group, and the date you would prefer to come.

Study Guides: We are pleased to provide a study guide to help you prepare your students for the performance. And every student matinee includes a post-show discussion with the cast!

Of course, we will also have performances of Voir Un Ami Pleurer for the general public. Info about public performances is on our home page. If you are interested in bringing a group to one of those performances, please email Carolyn Cook to discuss group rates.

We look forward to seeing you and your students at the theatre!
